CSched has been selected by the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Committee to assist PWTransit with the scheduling of all regional transportation services for athletes, officials and families attending the Games with over a hundred kilometers radius of covered territory and five bus depots. The Games transportation network requires more than 350 buses, servicing 256 routes each having a different operating-days calendar across the 45 days of the Games.

CSched helped the service planning for over 18 months of preparation prior to the games, providing cost information and alternate scheduling options based on Games service requirements. Daily planning scenarios provided by PWTransit were implemented into HASTUS for costs estimations in terms of vehicles and crews requirements using Minbus and CrewOpt modules.

CSched used an advanced configuration of the HASTUS booking calendar to efficiently and safely manage several schedules for all 45 days of competition. This daily distinction allowed for easy day-to-day schedule changes requested by athletes and officials due to weather, tournaments progression and unexpected occurrences during the Games, helping the operations crew with last minute changes management for operational viability.

Also, CSched provided valuable IT support producing ever-adapting reports from pre-games planning phases to on-site daily schedules changes and operations management. Communication being key to the practical management of an event of this importance, PWTransit could request new reports as the Games progressed to handle technical situation as they emerged. For example, all athlete buses had to be screened by police officers before opening and closing ceremonies to ensure public security. This requirement involved unique fine tuning of vehicle blockings and crews.

For this project, Ms. Frigon developed a key interface between HASTUS and Coach Manager for the dispatch assignment team. The complete interface was generated daily to ensure minimal changes had to be done by the operational crew through their dispatch system.

Finally, the on-site scheduling support provided by CSched for the duration of the Games played a key role in the transportation management in significant savings and viability.
